A Bright Idea

Mr. Helpful, whom I have not heard from in a couple of months, came by today. Yeah, he’s still trying to convince the would-be Mrs. Helpful that he has no intention of ever getting married to her or anybody else however this visit actually sorta made sense.

Apparently he heard about the huge difficulty I’ve been having lately in keeping my bills paid and he had a suggestion. He said that I should convert to using all led light bulbs instead of what I’ve got now. Apparently while it is true that the new CFL bulbs do last longer and use less power, the LED’s last almost forever and use even less power.

According to him (and I haven’t had time to check his numbers) having all of the lights in my house replaced by LED bulbs would result in my using less power to run all of them at once than ONE CFL bulb would use if run half the time.

I’m going to have to check those numbers but it sounds good. Of course the one fly in the ointment is the cost of making the conversion in the first place. Granted I’d save money in the long run but that’s meaningless if I cannot pay for the conversion, which I cannot do at all right now.
