One of the people moving in next door was on the phone (He was using one of those cordless jobs out in the backyard) while I was taking out the trash earlier and it seemed that he was having a problem because his voice got louder and really angry sounding.
Apparently he’s rather picky about the drumsticks he uses. I have to admit that I know almost nothing about drumsticks other than their basic shape and that they’re made of wood. He was getting angrier by the second because somebody didn’t get the 144 pairs of Pro Mark Drum Sticks that he had ordered. Instead they’d substituted three pairs of some other brand that he clearly did not approve of at all.
He ended up explaining that they had to be this particular brand because of the quality of their manufacture, that they’re made of hickory instead of balsa wood (I doubt anybody makes drumsticks out of balsa but that’s what he said.) and he listed a number of other reasons why he wants that kind and only that kind.
What he didn’t explain is why on Earth he needed 144 pairs of them. I mean seriously, if they’re as good as he made them out to be and he’s as good a drummer as he claimed, how could he possibly go through that many in less than a decade (or two, more likely!)??
This new neighbor thing is definitely not what it’s cracked up to be!
