A few days ago in this post I talked about an error that was showing up in the “incoming links” dashboard widget.
Since then, after spending quite a bit of time searching Google and the WordPress support forum I *finally* came up with a solution that seems to be working so far.
When you hover the mouse over the title bar of that widget the word “configure” appears. Clicking on that opens an interface where you can enter the url used for the search query and set how many items it shows.

I replaced it with this:
Instantly the error message was gone and the widget is now once again behaving as it did before.
Apparently Google must have changed something about how their blog search works.
In any event, no more aggravating error message that won’t go away.
