Museum Honoring Sore Backsides

August 8th, 2012 | Posted in nutjob hills | Comments Off

That’s how the Nutjob Hills Museum of saddle history bills itself. Though to be honest it’s not quite a museum in the traditional sense of the word. Joseph Roberts (also known as “Joe Bob”) has renovated and converted an old barn.

He’s loaded it with examples of saddlery spanning the last couple of hundred years. One thing I can say is that sore backsides hardly seems strong enough of a term. Some of the older, more primitive saddle designs make my backside ache in sympathy for the poor souls that had to ride on such creations. Especially for long distances or all day working a ranch.
