A Sound Difference

August 8th, 2012 | Posted in Misc | Comments Off

An anonymous person recently commented on how much the audio in my Minecraft videos improved when I switched from using Bandicam to using Fraps to record.

They were convinced that I had gotten a new high quality microphone and congratulated me for having done so. I told them that I hadn’t changed microphones but had changed recording software. Apparently Bandicam, while just fine for recording on my laptop, seems to have a problem with the sound system on my 64bit windows seven desktop system.

They insisted that the recording software couldn’t possibly make that much of a difference and that in fact the only thing that possibly could was if I had gotten one of the better MF shure microphones to replace the old Logitech headset mic I’ve been using for well over a year now.

I decided not to bother pursuing the argument because I’ve long ago learned that once somebody has made up their mind about what they think is real, there isn’t going to be any changing their minds about it short of in person physical evidence and there’s no way I’m inviting some stranger to my home just to prove a point about what kind of microphone I use.
