Orbiter Adventures – Landing The DeltaGlider On The Moon

August 24th, 2012 | Posted in video | Comments Off

In this second “Flying With TFC” video I picked up where the first one left off. The idea here was to alter my orbit so that I was aligned with Brighton Beach lunar base and then land there.

I was concerned for a while that fuel might become a problem but that turned out not to be the case. The hardest part was the fact that I could not use time acceleration during most of the landing phase because it tends to give the navigation aids and autopilots a problem… the kind where you lose control.

In the end however I did managed the landing. And while the tower control is reading me the riot act for my landing you can all get out your Hiking Boots and explore the lunar surface around the base.

I have to admit that this was not the greatest landing in the world (or off of it) but then again the old saying goes: “Any landing you can walk away from is a good one.”. This proved to be true here as well.
