The Importance of focusing On A Single Message

Regardless of how rich your company is and how much you can afford to spend on winning a customer, you will very seldom get more than one shot at any one customer. If you don’t convert them, it’s not very likely that they’re going to be interested in coming back to your business again. If they’ve rejected your offer the first time around, odds are good they’ll continue to reject it.

Because of this, you cannot afford to divide your focus into more than one message. Most customers are fairly unfocused, you cannot allow yourself to be. Think of it like a military battle, if you have one side defending several positions and the other side is focusing all it’s forces on attacking a single position at a time, then even if that force is smaller, they’ve got a much better chance of winning.

Even so, you need to keep your sales efforts focused. Your customer is following along as they read your sales copy, Your sales copy needs to keep them focused on the single message that’s made up of your product and their need for it.
