There’s two extremes in selling. In the first, companies offer pretty much predictable products and prices where there’s not really a whole lot to tell them apart by because other than their names, they’re basically the same products.
In the second place, everybody is doing their own thing. They’ve got exciting products and unpredictable prices. The downside is that all this unpredictability makes for more confusion which gets in the way of new conversions.
The best place to be, especially for somebody new to marketing, is somewhere in between the two extremes. You could have the same price and vary or increase the features on your product or you could go the other way with familiar product and features but have a lower price to get people’s attention.
