The Stress Of A Stress Test

April 14th, 2010 | Posted in nutjob hills | Comments Off

I’m going to start by making it clear that I have considerable respect for those with jobs in healthcare, if only because it’s not the kind of job that I could ever do. Even if you ignore the “icky” parts of that field, I really don’t think that my temperament is well suited to it at all.

That said, as in any field there are plenty in it that should consider another career entirely. For example, When I was in the hospital recently I was told that the doctor had ordered a stress test and that Monday I would need to call the testing facility and schedule it.

When I made the call, they had no record of me, I was not in their computer at all and of course, since I was no longer in the hospital they couldn’t just check with the nurses station on the floor where I was because once you’re discharged they no longer have your file.

So the stress test ends up getting delayed. Oh I’ll have it alright but only because I went to see my regular doctor and explained the whole thing and asked him to order it.

Frankly, it’s just a little scary when a Nutjob Hills doc is better organized than a “big city hospital”.
