The season finale of America’s got talent was on tonight and we finally got to see how it all turned out. The thing that’s been clear for a while now is that all of the top five acts definitely have career potential and are people that we’re going to be hearing from for years to come.
The show started out with all of the top ten acts performing together to do a great rendition of “A moment in time”. As the focused on each performer, scenes of their previous appearances this season were shown on the big screen behind them.
Next up was a British performer (Leona Lewis) that I’ve not heard of before (but then again, I’m sure some think I live in a cave).
Halfway through the show they started the eliminations. My wife and I were both surprised to see Queen Emily land in the number 5 slot.
In fourth place was Don Braswell. After seeing the message for him from Andrew Lloyd Weber, I’m sure he’s going to end up on broadway like Sharon said an episode or two back.
Third place is where Nuttin But Stringz ended up. They came a long way from their start and they’ll be around. Not only that, but I also think that a lot of people might just end up taking violin because of them. Here’s hoping.
Finally they were down to the last two. After the usual (and I think excessive) suspense building, Neal E Boyd was pronounced the winner of the competition. Before going further, they did the recap thing with Eli Mattson. The message for him was from the songwriter who wrote one of the songs that Eli did, offering to write him a song when he gets his record deal. I’ve no doubt that he will.
For Neal E Boyd there was a message from Placido Domingo himself, telling him that Opera was his life from now on. I think something I said previously is at least possible, someday we’re very likely going to see Boyd singing with the likes of Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo. I’m not exactly an opera fan but I’ll be following Boyd’s career for certain.
