The very first thing you should do is to start exercising. Getting rid of belly fat is basically an exercise in stomach weight loss, which means that you’re going to be trying to focus your weight loss efforts on your abdominal area. To do this you should get in at least 30 minutes of exercise a day. You can get by with the old “20 minutes a day, three times a week” routine but it will take longer to get the same results.
You’ll need to concentrate on strengthening your abdominal muscles. Along with losing belly fat, You shoud choose at least some workouts that exercise your abdominal muscles. Some effective workouts include crunches, knee and leg lifts, pilates and dancing (if you’re into that sort of thing, I’m not).
Improving your diet will also be a factor. Bad eating habits will make losing weight a real chore if not outright impossible. you need to cut out the foods from your diet that are loaded with things like sugar, high fructose corn syrup (sometimes called ‘corn sugar’ these days), and high fats. Go for the lean meats, fresh vegetables and fruits. If you track your carbohydrate intake, keep your daily carb limit to less than 125 grams per day.
Cut out alcoholic beverages entirely. Alcoholic beverages can raise cortisol levels and decrease the metabolism. Cortisol increases your hunger, and a slower metabolism means you burn calories and fat a lot slower especially in the abdomen. You’ve heard of a “beer belly”? this is where it comes from!
Drink Lots of water. Water flushes out excess sodium and fluids from your body and keeps the kidneys working at their best. On top of that, drinking water will also fill your stomach that much faster so you will be less likely to overeat.
Cut down your stress levels. Stress, feeling anxious, can also release high levels of cortisol. On top of increasing your appetite, this hormone also redistributes fat to the abdomen. Not only does stress kill, it makes you fat.
This is far from a comprehensive guide but it should be enough to get you started losing weight and bringing that stomach under control.
