Internet Home Business: eBay & Auction Selling

One of the first things that a lot of people think of when you say “online marketplace” is Ebay. Everybody’s probably received various flavors of spam that promise to make us overnight millionaires using Ebay as a license to print money.

The thing is, there really is good money to be made on Ebay, Amazon Auctions, Craigslist and others. Whether you’re selling a product you make, reselling somebody else’s products that you get wholesale or at some other discount, or selling information and / or services.

You can sell used products, buy goods wholesale, or use a drop-shipping service so that you personally don’t have to handle any inventory or shipping.

This kind of business requires skill (or at least some ability) in merchandising and sales copywriting. You also need to learn a bit of html if you’re going to customize Ebay auction templates at all. Customer service is important so you’ll need good communications skills and it’ll be a great idea to develop a reputation for answering buyer questions and dealing with customer problems quickly.

Some of the best resources for learning about Ebay, Amazon or any other online marketplace is usually found on the site itself and if it has one, it’s forum or discussion groups. You can learn a lot from seasoned, experienced sellers.
