Problem Identified

Yesterday I wrote about a problem that I have been having with my computer over the last few days.

Well, after a lot of BS and posting all over the place trying to find out if anybody else has ever heard of this kind of thing I finally got around to booting the computer with a Kubuntu 10.10 Live-CD.

The machine exhibited several equally odd symptoms when running from Kubuntu and since it was booted from a Live-CD I can safely rule out ANY possible software problems in the computer’s main Windows XP Pro operating system since NONE of that was used in the Kubuntu test.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the stiff right shift key was an early symptom of the keyboard going bad and probably my efforts to fix that key contributed to the problem getting worse.

I have ordered a replacement keyboard and when it gets here and I get it installed, I expect things to go back 100% to normal.

All I can say is that it can’t happen soon enough for me! There’s programs that I simply cannot use because of this and that is NOT acceptable!
